I love your site, it's the best one on the net. I have found a spelling mistake which may throw some people off, it is as follows:-L&WS is GEORGE SHADFORD LEE & WIGFULL but is down as STADFORD on the main page instead of SHADFORD. I hope you didn't mind me saying. I have just been to your facebook page and LIKED you. Thanks. Elaine.
Superbe site, qui m'a permis d'identifier l'origine d'une vielle pipe de famille. Merci.

Thank you for creating your wonderful website. It is very comprehensive, and it has been extremely valuable to me in discovering more about our family's fairly extensive silver collection, some of which dates back to the mid 18th century. I still have many items to trawl through, and some which I just can't identify, but you're website has helped me tremendously! It must have taken you a very long time to build, so congratulations - you've created a wonderful resource.
Alex
I love your website, it is wonderful and helpful to many silver collectors such as myself and I always admire your gorgeous collection!
Crystal
I have a spoon of what was EP on possibly brass - no other marks other than EP in an oval. Bone handle. The bowl of the spoon is decorated with an engravedbranch of a tree. How do I go about identifying this piece?
Your site is brilliant and totally comprehensive
EP means Electro Plated. Your spoon has no maker's mark and is not possible to date it or identify its origin.
Giorgio
The most useful site I ever use - invaluable. This site has helped me out on so many occasions. Many, many thanks.
Thank you for this site full of wonders. I have found it very interesting and very helpful.

One of the best sites for silver i have seen. You are a great resource and i thank you for your efforts.
Very much appreciated!
I have enjoyed your site and continue to find it useful
you've build up a very great web page and collection. It was easy for me as a novice in silver art to find the hallmark I was looking for.
Mark
Hello you have a wonderful site and it has been invaluable to me. Thank you very much.
Not sure if this is of interest but was looking for this Russian silversmith KK and it is not on your site. If you are interested this is Konstantin Knyazev Silversmith St Petersburg (around 1884)
Thank you again I am greatly indebted to you.
While researching a hallmark on your site i came across the exact same piece that started me looking. The example you have for Lawson Co. Glasgow is identical to the piece I received in a box lot at auction. My piece has the exact initial (M) on the front. In all ways its a perfect match. Is the piece sterling or silver plate?
Thanks so much.
Debi
The piece illustrated in my webpage is sterling silver
Giorgio
I would like to thank you for creating and maintaining the best site for silver collectors.

I would like to visit you sometime to see the collection live. But we will proberly never meet in real.
Collecting buaty and buatiful silver
Hope to see more goodies in your growing collection
hose_dk
An excellent site. I use it to identify a large number of objects.
I have a small correction however as you have ' A over I.C over N into a quatrefoil
Ann Craig & John Neville - possibly-
London 1764 hallmark' in fact this is an 'S' not a 'C' as I have seen this as yet unidentified mark on a piece more clearly than the one in your image. I hope this helps.
Thanks for your information. Grimwade 3689 quotes it as an "unregistered mark" (unidentified)
silvercollection.it
First I want to tell you that I believe you have the best silver/pewter reference site on the internet. Thank you! I use it all the time to reference the silver and pewter I buy.
Laurie
Un grand bravo tout d'abord pour la qualité de votre site
Catherine
Your website is marvellous by the way!
Leila
This is a wonderful and useful site however I was not able to find information about Malcolm Gray or the Ortak Co. I was just wondering if I was looking in the wrong places or if it is an omission.
silvercollection.it deals with antique silver and contemporary jewellery isn't its target. The only information I have about Malcolm Gray is available at http://www.silvercollection.it/Englishsilvermarks3M.html (description of the mark without image)
This is an excellent site. Walter Harley, an Irish convict who worked in Sydney for Jacob Josephson, in 1820 was probably the unidentified Australian silversmith "WH".
Thank you for your help, and your website. It peaked my interest once I found your website and now I am fascinated. The site is fantastic and addictive
Mary
Your silvercollection.it website has been an invaluable source of information when I research new silver items I've bought, or when I want to sell them on ebay, or buy them. Very few other websites offer such a comprehensive list of silver hallmarks and maker's marks. I just want to comment here to thank you for all the hard work you put into it. Bravo! :)
Sara
you have an awesome very informative site

your website is coming along wonderfully and I use it often.

Hi. I am a Hutton. My Grandfather, Herbert (junior) was the last family MD of William Hutton and Sons before the company failed in 1930. That was due to lack of foresight by the Chairman of the Board of directors.
You say in your history that William Carr Hutton was joined by his Eldest son Herbert (senior) in 1864. Firstly, Herbert was the youngest son of W.C.H. born in 1843. His eldest was William Henry, b.1838, who took no part in the business. The next eldest was James Edward, b.1839 and then Robert, b.1840. Both James Edward (Hallmark-EH)and Robert (Hallmark- RH and rh) were in the business until they retired early due to ill health. James Edward is my great, great Grandfather.
There are many who have used the information in your description of the Hutton history and I am simply trying to put the correct information in your site.
Thanks for your information about Hutton. The webpage is now updated with your precious information
This site is brilliant, a veritable treasure trove of wonderful information to help anyone who collects, researches and preserve metal ware. Being able to track down makers and their marks would be extremely difficult were it not for the dedication of the great people who put together sites such as this. A massive thumbs up for this site!
Bruce
I use your website almost every day for work and research and with out your valuable information I would regularly be hitting my head against a brick wall. So THANK YOU SO MUCH.
Maryanne
Merci pour rendre disponible à tous les renseignements qui figurent sur votre site, qui est le meilleur que je connaisse en ce domaine jusqu'à présent
Arnaud

Siete un grande aiuto, grazie mille, e tanti baci per natale.
Hi, Just found your fantastic site, as I was searching to date a set of 6 Fairmont Hotel (stamped on back)spoons; on front stamped FF, with the 1st a mirror image of the second F; has
a shell pattern on both sides & additional shell on back of spoon bowl. They are lovely. Any information would be greatly appreciated. Shaun
the maker could be FURNISS, see http://www.silvercollection.it/electroplatesilverFdue.html (I suggest to use my facebook page to post a photo)
What an informative site. Just about to put a collection of odd EPNS cutlery on ebay only to find that one item had a hallmark for Hawksworth Eyre and Co. My family name is Eyre wonder if it must be a family item. Off to research my family lineage and not selling this item just yet.
Yvonne R
Hello there Giorgio, I am from Australia and have 6 cute matching spoons made in Birmingham, with the date letter z that looks like 1920. It has the Maker's mark as W.R. & H.L and I have searched your wonderful site, but alas I cannot find these silversmiths and wondered if you might have a clue or could send me in the right direction, per favor and grazie, David outside Sydney... :) :) :)
WR & HL was sometimes used by Walker & Hall (R and L: lowercase)
Brilliant site.
What a great site and absolutely invaluable research tool. Just used it to identify Deakin & Francis but did notice the hallmark shown is for Birmingham 1974 rather than 1924 as stated. Thanks again.
